EN 16511 Test Standard for Multi-Layer Modular Flooring (MMF) Panels

This European Standard specifies the characteristics of a semi-rigid multi-layer modular floor covering with an abrasion resistant and decorative surface layer, supplied in panels (in the form of tiles or planks). The floor panels are considered suitable for domestic and commercial use levels and are designed for floating installation.

This European Standard does not apply to flexible floor panels for loose laying according to EN 14085, multi-layer wood flooring according to EN 13489 or products specified in EN ISO 10581, EN ISO 10582, EN ISO 24011, EN 12104 and ISO 14486.

This European standard recommended by the manufacturer only applies to areas subject to frequent wetting, eg bathrooms, laundry rooms and saunas. EN 16511 also includes marking and packaging requirements.

Floor panel is defined as a semi-rigid decorative floor covering in wood or tile form, with a multi-layer structure and machined edges that allow products to be combined to form a larger integral unit.

Floor panels manufactured and conforming to this European Standard must be clearly marked on or inside by the manufacturer on a label.

Floor panels shall be delivered in packaging designed to protect the corners, edges and surfaces of the product under normal conditions of transport and handling. Installation, cleaning and maintenance instructions will be delivered with the product.
