EN 16890 Standard Test for Air Filters

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 16890 standard. The EN 16890 standard takes into account the particle size (Particulate Matter, paticular matter = PM) in the range of 779 µm to 0,3 µm, unlike the EN 10 standard for efficiency evaluation.

PM can also be called as particulate pollution consisting of very small particles that cannot be seen with the naked eye.

The EN 16890 test standard has replaced the EN 779 standard. EN 779 was the standard used extensively in Europe, and ASHRAE 52.2.

For the tests of air filters, PM1, PM2,5 and PM10 particle classes used by the World Health Organization and other authorities have been determined as evaluation parameters.

With EN 16890, filter performances are evaluated at the highest sensitivity level. Classification 1µm; 2,5µm; It is made on the basis of 10 different particles in the form of 3µm. ePM0,3 up to particle size range of 1 – 1 μm (soot particle, viruses); EPM2,5 efficiencies up to 2,5 μm (organic components) particle size range and ePM10 efficiencies up to 10 μm (dust, pollen) particle size range are calculated.

The calculated efficiency values ​​are rounded to the nearest lower value according to the efficiency values ​​in the EN 16890 classification groups.

It was taken as 5% between stages.
Hepa and Ulpa filters are not covered by this classification.
