This european standard is based on particle counting methods that actually meet the needs of most different applications. The difference between this European standard and previous national standards lies in the technique used to determine the integral efficiency.

Establishes a procedure for determining efficiency on the basis of particle count. These filters allow for a methodical and standardized classification using a liquid (or alternatively solid) test aerosol in terms of efficiency, both local and integrated efficiency.

The filter element must be designed or marked to prevent incorrect assembly. The filter element should be designed so that there are no leaks along the sealing edge when properly installed in the ventilation duct.

If for some reason the dimensions do not allow a filter to be tested under standard test conditions, the installation of two or more filters of the same type or model is allowed, provided that the resulting filter does not leak.
