EN ISO 29862 Self-Adhesive Tapes - Standard Test for Determination of Peel-Adhesive Properties

This standard includes:

• Method 4: Self-adhesive tapes? Measurement of the adhesion of the liner to an adhesive tape at an angle of 180°.

Method 1 gives a measure of the force required to remove an adhesive tape applied to a stainless steel panel at a 180° angle. A length of adhesive tape is applied to a standard plate and then fixed vertically to a clamp of a tensile testing machine. The other clamp of the machine pulls the free end of the adhesive tape to the plate at a 180° angle.

Adhesion strength is measured by the force required to continuously peel the adhesive tape from the plate, with the parting line perpendicular to the direction of the applied force.

Final wiping should be done with methyl ethyl ketone or acetone. The panel should be left to dry for at least 10 minutes. Panels that are not used within 10 hours should be cleaned again. To ensure consistent results, a new panel should be wiped at least 10 times with the final solvent before use.

Discard plates with stains, discoloration, or many scratches. Avoid touching the panel surface with your fingers. During storage, the panel must be protected from damage or contamination.
