This standard covers the design, type tests, manufacturing and inspection rules for portable fire extinguishers made of metal body, considering the pressure risk. This standard applies to portable fire extinguishers containing explosive, non-flammable, non-toxic and non-oxidizing fluids with a maximum permissible pressure (PS) of 30 bar or less.
This standard also applies to metal gas cartridges with a volume less than 0,12 L, and guidance for generally accepted engineering practice for metal gas cartridges with a volume greater than or equal to 0,12 L and less than 0,5 L. also gives. This standard does not apply to carbon dioxide fire extinguishers.
