EN 12615 Curved Shear Strength Test for the Protection and Repair of Concrete Structures

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 12615 testing. This European Standard describes a method for determining the strength of the structural bond between two concrete surfaces.

EN 12615 Curved Shear Strength Test for the Protection and Repair of Concrete Structures

The method can be used to measure oblique shear bond strength in the following combinations:

  • Hardened concrete due to hardened strength,
  • Fresh concrete bonded to hardened concrete.

The test can be done with dry or wet hardened concrete surfaces.

In the oblique shear test, a test specimen is prepared by bonding two parallel metal or composite plates together with an adhesive or binder. The bonded specimen is then placed at an angle, typically 30 or 45 degrees, and a constant tensile load is applied until rupture occurs.

Oblique shear strength is calculated by dividing the maximum load required to cause collapse by the cross-sectional area of the bonded area. Testing is typically performed at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, although changes in test conditions may be made depending on the particular application.

EUROLAB assists manufacturers with EN 12615 test compliance. Our test experts, with professional working mission and principles, offer you the best service and controlled testing process in our laboratories to our manufacturers and suppliers.
