This European standard specifies a method for determining the behavior of plastic and rubber sheets for waterproofing against folding after exposure at low temperature.
This European standard is designed for the characterization of plastic and rubber sheets manufactured or supplied prior to use. This test method relates to products or their components, where appropriate, and not to workplace-mounted waterproof membrane systems consisting of such products.
The principle of the test is to place the looped test specimen in a suitable folding apparatus. Expose the looped test sample to a certain low temperature for 1 hour. Close the folding device within 1 second and hold this position for a minimum of 1 second. Allow the test sample to warm to room temperature and examine the folded area at 6x magnification.
Measure the total thickness of each test sample according to EN 1849-2. If the effective thickness is within the declared tolerance, the declared thickness of the product or the measured thickness of the sample can be used to set the plates.
