Brightness and color can be measured under various lighting and observation conditions. This document pertains to D65/10° conditions referring to outdoor daylight.
C/2° conditions (indoor daylight) are considered in ISO 12625-15. Although both International standards deal with gloss and colour, the results obtained are often different and unrelated to each other.
Optical measurement is affected by the geometry of the instruments used and the texture of the material. The routine to be adopted for the design and calibration of the device to be used according to this standard is specified in ISO 2469 and ISO 11475.
