EN 573-2 Chemical Composition and Shape of Forged Products - Part 2: Chemical Symbol Based Marking System

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 573-2 standard. This part of the EN 573 standard applies to Forged products and ingots that need to be processed. The rules for the code designation of wrought unalloyed aluminum, the rules for the coded designation of wrought aluminum alloys, cover alloys produced from high-purity aluminum.

EN 573-2 Chemical Composition and Shape of Forged Products - Part 2: Chemical Symbol Based Marking System

The chemical composition limits for aluminum and aluminum alloys specified herein are exactly the same as those registered in the Aluminum Association, 1525, Wilson Boulevard, Suite 600, Arlington, VA 22209, USA for the respective alloys.

The chemical composition of aluminum and aluminum alloys is expressed in percent by mass. Contamination limits are expressed as a maximum; limits of alloying elements shown as a range for unalloyed aluminum
specified as the minimum and the remainder for aluminum alloys.

For non-refined unalloyed aluminum, the aluminum content is the difference between 100,00% and the sum of all other metallic elements present in amounts of 0,010% or more, each expressed to the second decimal place before determining the total.

The numeric display systems used in teal plates and the European Standards for wrought aluminum alloys are the same. The prefix EN AW- is added as specified in EN 573-1. Alternative chemical symbol based alloy identification system will be based on EN 573-2. The international numerical system is the preferred system. Descriptions based on the chemical symbol are for reference only.
