Under certain conditions, for example, a fault current flowing through a trace path, overloading of components or parts and faulty connections, flames can also occur; such flames can strike nearby combustible parts.
Since this test evaluates the effects on the specimen of a small flame that may result from other ignitable components, the relevant specification is required to specify the duration of flame application and acceptance criteria.
