EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 60851-5 standard. This part of EN 60851 forms part of a set of standards dealing with insulated wires used for windings in electrical equipment.
This part of EN 60851 specifies the following tests:
A 30 m ± 1 m sample of wire should be drawn over the high voltage electrode pulley at a speed of (275 ± 25) mm/s or through the graphite brush electrode mounted between the conductor of the wire and grounded guide rollers.
During the enameling process and just before the wire taken to the distribution drum, reel or reel, it is passed over a “V” grooved electrode (pulley) or a graphite brush electrode. A DC test voltage is applied between the electrode and ground (ground). The wire conductor is permanently connected to earth (earth). The cable length and the number of faults in the insulation are recorded by a counting device.
