This first edition of EN 62087-4 repeals and replaces Article 62087 of EN 7. Together with EN 62087-1 to EN 62087-3 and EN 62087-5 to IEC 62087-6, this standard supersedes and supersedes EN 62087. This International Standard constitutes a technical revision.

This edition contains important technical changes related to Clause 62087 of EN 7. The changes include major and extensive revisions to cover recorders with removable solid-state memory as well as video recorders such as DVD and BD types. Article 7 has been completely revised.

A method has been defined to determine the ratio of peak brightness expected in the home and peak brightness expected in the retail environment. Chapters on general measurement conditions and procedures are now in EN 62087-1.
