Where an IEC standard exists that specifies test conditions and requirements for cells used in special applications and conflicts with this document, the former takes precedence.
Fixed applications: telecom, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), electrical energy storage system, grid switching, emergency power and similar applications.
Motive applications: except forklift, golf cart, automatic guided vehicle (AGV), rail and marine, road vehicles.
Since this document covers batteries for a variety of industrial applications, it contains the common and minimum requirements for various applications.
Electrical safety is included only as part of the risk analysis in Clause 8. Regarding the details of electrical safety consideration, end-use application standard requirements should be considered. This document applies to cells and batteries.
If the battery is divided into smaller units, the smaller unit can be tested as representative of the battery. The manufacturer clearly declares the unit tested. The manufacturer may add the functions found in the final battery to the unit under test.
