EN 660-1 Flexible Floor Coverings - Determination of Abrasion Resistance - Part 1: Stuttgart Test

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 660-1 testing. This European standard defines the Stuttgart method for determining the wear resistance of the wear layer of polyvinyl chloride floor coverings under laboratory conditions.

EN 660-1 Flexible Floor Coverings - Determination of Abrasion Resistance - Part 1: Stuttgart Test

The method can be applied to smooth surface polyvinyl chloride floor coverings. It can be used to determine the wear resistance of surfaces and specifically to rank the different types of wear layers within a uniform product.

It is not suitable for comparing the abrasion resistance of different materials such as rubber and polyvinyl chloride.

A special abrasion test apparatus simulates the shear stress caused by users' shoes, for example, on the floor covering, as well as the rotational movements. The abrasive substance is sandpaper. With sandpaper and leather, alternating tension cycles are performed, and with steel nails, indentation tension is part of each cycle.
