EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 660-2 testing. This European standard defines the Frick-Taber method for determining the wear resistance of the wear layer of polyvinyl chloride floor coverings under laboratory conditions.

EN 660-2 Flexible Floor Coverings, Determination of Abrasion Resistance, Part 2: Frick-Taber Test

The test method is applicable to smooth surface floor coverings. It can be used to determine the wear resistance of surfaces and specifically to rank the different types of wear layers within a uniform product. It is not suitable for comparing the abrasion resistance of different materials such as rubber and polyvinyl chloride.

A sample standing on a horizontal, rotating holding table is sprinkled with abrasive grains and loaded with a pair of leather-covered abrasive wheels, each freely rotating about a horizontal axis.

Two cylindrical etching wheels are used, made of metal or hard plastic and with a leather surface, 42 mm in diameter and 12,7 mm in width, with a hub hole for freely fixing to 0,01 mm.
