EN ISO 10140-3 Acoustics - Laboratory Measurement of Sound Insulation of Building Elements - Part 3: Measurement of Impact Sound Insulation

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN ISO 10140-3 standard. This part of the EN ISO 10140 standard specifies laboratory methods for measuring the impact sound insulation of floor assemblies.

EN ISO 10140-3 Acoustics - Laboratory Measurement of Sound Insulation of Building Elements - Part 3: Measurement of Impact Sound Insulation

The test results can be used to compare the soundproofing properties of building elements, to classify elements according to their soundproofing properties, to assist in the design of building products that require specific acoustic properties, and to predict on-site performance in complete buildings.

Measurements are carried out in laboratory test facilities where sound transmission from the side paths is suppressed. The results of the measurements made according to this document cannot be applied directly to the site situation without taking into account other factors affecting the sound insulation, such as side conduction, boundary conditions and loss factor.

A test method using a standard tapping machine is specified to simulate impact sources such as human footsteps while a person is wearing shoes. Alternative test methods using a modified tapping machine or a heavy/soft impact source to simulate impact sources with strong low-frequency components such as human footsteps (bare feet) or children's jumping are also specified.

This document applies to all floor types (heavy or light) with any type of floor covering. Test methods are valid for laboratory measurements only.
