DIN 51807-1 Testing of Lubricants, Behavior of Lubricating Greases in the Presence of Water, Part 1: Standard Method for Static Testing

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of DIN 51807-1 standard. This standard specifies a procedure for testing the behavior of lubricating greases against water, preferably NLGI classes 51818 to 1 according to DIN 4.

DIN 51807-1 Testing of Lubricants, Behavior of Lubricating Greases in the Presence of Water, Part 1: Standard Method for Static Testing

The method according to this standard is used to determine how lubricating greases behave under static conditions compared to distilled water at different temperatures.

The test result is only an indication of the properties. No binding conclusions can be drawn from the test result regarding the possible uses of the tested lubricating grease or its water resistance under a wide variety of practical conditions.

As lubricating greases marked G according to the DIN 51502 classification standard or the DIN 51826 requirements standard can also be free-flowing greases of consistency classes NLGI class 000, but DIN 51807-1 only allows consistency classes greater than/equal to NGLI 1.

DIN 51826 greases can only be limited to consistency classes 51807 to 1 according to DIN 1-2. Greases that are softer than NLGI 1 greases will slide off the glass strip.
