TS 7845 Building Construction - Joint Sealing Materials - Determination of Tensile Properties at Constant Elongation

The test sealant is extended and released. Elastic recovery is expressed as a percentage of elongation. The sealant manufacturer's instructions regarding, for example, whether to use a primer and the mixing procedure for multi-component sealants should be followed. The hollow space formed by the substrates will be filled with sealant.

The following measures will be taken:

• The formation of air bubbles should be avoided;
• The sealant must be pressed against the contact surfaces of the substrates;
• The sealing surface should be cut flush with the faces of the substrates and spacers.

The test specimens shall be placed on the edge of one of the supports and the non-adhesive material shall be removed as soon as possible. The test specimens should rest in this position to allow the sealant to cure or optimally dry.
