This allows for the qualitative identification of single rubbers or mixtures. This standard is not designed for quantitative analysis.
The method is applicable above all for single polymers. The method can also be applied to mixtures when the pyrogram shows a characteristic hydrocarbon. The method can also be applied to other types of polymers when verified by the analyst in each particular case.
Use of this standard presupposes sufficient working knowledge of the principles and techniques of gas chromatography to enable the analyst to perform the operations described and interpret the results correctly.
