EN ISO 2812-4 Paints and Varnishes - Determination of Resistance to Liquids - Part 4: Staining Methods

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN ISO 2812-4 standard. This part of the International Standard EN ISO 2812 specifies methods of staining to determine the resistance of a system of single-layer or multi-layer coating materials to the effects of liquids or paste-like products.

These methods allow testers to determine the effects of the test substance on the coating and, if necessary, to assess damage to the substrate.

A coated test panel is exposed to a test substance using the blotting method. The effects of exposures are assessed against agreed criteria.

Unless otherwise agreed, use test panels with dimensions of approximately 150 mm × 100 mm and a thickness of 0,7 mm to 1,0 mm, conforming to ISO 1514 requirements. Prepare each test panel as described in ISO 1514 and then coat with the application method specified with the product or system under test. Dry (or stove) and age each coated test panel for the specified time under specified conditions.

Determine the dry film thickness of the coating in micrometers using one of the non-destructive methods specified in ISO 2808. Immediately prior to testing, condition test panels under standard conditions specified in ISO 3270, ie at (23 ± 2) °C and (50 ± 5) % relative humidity for at least 16 hours.

Among the services provided by our organization within the framework of material testing services, there are also EN ISO 2812-4 standard tests. Do not hesitate to contact our laboratory EUROLAB for your testing and certification requests.
