EN ISO 2871-2 Surfactants - Detergents - Determination of Cationic-Active Content Content - Part 2: Low Molecular Mass Cationic-Active Substance

The ISO 2871-2 standard, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), specifies a method for the determination of low molecular mass cationic-active materials such as monoamines, amine oxides, quaternary ammonium compounds and alkylpyridinium salts with a main chain of 10 to 22 carbon atoms.

EN ISO 2871-2 Surfactants - Detergents - Determination of Cationic-Active Content Content - Part 2: Low Molecular Mass Cationic-Active Substance

Cationic active substances are expensive but not strong soil removal properties. It is mainly suitable for post-wash processes and is used in disinfectant products such as fabric softener and bleach.

The EN ISO 2871-2 standard is also suitable for other cationic-active materials. The method is not applicable if anionic or amphoteric surfactants are present.

The method is applicable to solids or aqueous solutions of the active material when the relative molecular mass of the cationic-active substance is known or it has been previously determined whether its content should be expressed as a percentage by mass. If there is more than one type of cationic-active material, average relative molecular mass estimation can be used.

Among the services provided by our organization within the framework of material testing services, there are also EN ISO 2871-2 standard tests.
