It is designed solely for the purpose of quickly and simply evaluating the horizontal burning properties of small test pieces of the material, ie it is taken into account without reference to the environmental conditions in which the material or products made from it may be used.
As a result, it is not possible to establish a relationship between the results of this test and the performance of such materials or products under actual service conditions. The test is limited to test pieces thicker than 5 mm. The results of tests on test pieces of different thickness are not comparable.
