EN ISO 4080 Rubber and Plastic Hoses and Hose Assemblies Determination of gas permeability

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of EN ISO 4080 standard. ISO 4080 specifies three methods for determining the volume of gas emitted from a rubber or plastic hose or pipe length in a given period of time.

EN ISO 4080 Rubber and Plastic Hoses and Hose Assemblies Determination of gas permeability

Method 1: To determine the permeability to test gas of the entire hose or length of tubing, excluding the end fittings. Permeability is calculated based on the length of the hose or pipe.

Method 2: To determine the permeability at the hose/connector interface. This method is used when determining the permeability properties of unsewn capped hoses, when the gas usually exits the textile reinforcement through the cut ends. Permeability is calculated based on the length of the hose.

Method 3: To precisely determine the permeability of a hose or hose assembly to test gas. Permeability is calculated based on the surface area of the hose liner.

The methods are applicable only to water-insoluble gases.
