EN ISO 527-4 Test Standard for Tensile Properties of Isotropic and Orthotropic Fiber Reinforced Plastic Composites

EN ISO 527-4 is an international test standard for determining the tensile properties of fiber-reinforced plastic composites. EN ISO 527-4 closures test conditions specify unidirectional composites that are isotropic and non-orthotropic. An EN ISO 527-4 test is performed by applying a tensile force to a sample and measuring various properties of the sample under stress. EN ISO 527-4 measures the following tensile properties:

• Poisson's ratio - ratio of change in transverse and axial strain between 0.05% and 0.25% strain
• Modulus of elasticity - slope of the stress/strain response of the sample, usually determined between 0.05% and 0.25% strain
• Tensile stress at tensile strength - tensile stress corresponding to tensile strength
• Tensile strength - the maximum stress applied during testing (usually stress at break)
