All test methods described for rubber hoses in this standard can also be applied to plastic hoses.

To determine the resistance of conductive, antistatic, and non-conductive hose, the test should preferably be performed with an instrument with a rated open circuit voltage of 500 V dc, or any known output instrument, preferably specially designed for measuring the insulation resistance. The instrument must be sufficiently accurate to determine the resistance within ± 10%.

During testing, no more than 3 W should be dispersed in the sample to avoid erroneous results due to the effects of temperature. The power dissipated will be determined by the square of the open circuit voltage divided by the measured resistance.
