EN ISO 8130-3 Coating Powders – Part 3: Determination of Density by Liquid Displacement Pyrmeter

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN ISO 8130-3 standard. This International Standard specifies a liquid displacement pyrmeter method for determining the density of coating powders. The method is based on determining the mass and volume of a test section.

EN ISO 8130-3 Coating Powders – Part 3: Determination of Density by Liquid Displacement Pyrmeter

Powder coating is a liquid composition based on polymer resins with hardeners and flow modifiers. The processing temperature in the chamber is 200-250 degrees. Powder coating technology is used for products that can withstand the temperature at which the coating is baked without deforming.

Powder coating protects the surface well. The paint lays in a dense layer with a thickness of 35-250 μm, the number of pores is less. One coat replaces 2-3 coats of normal paint. Smooth, durable coating film will not be scratched or damaged in transit.

Density 1 g/cm3 < coating powders can be measured by agreement, in accordance with ISO 1183-1 and the appropriate method. The method is based on determining the mass and volume of a test section. The pyknometer (in accordance with ISO 787-10) must use a liquid that completely wets the product under test without swelling or dissolving.
