EN ISO 8130-8 Coating Powders - Test Standard for Evaluation of Storage Stability of Thermosetting Powders

It deals with the prediction of storage stability of thermoset coating powders. This standard specifies procedures for determining changes in both the physical state of the thermosetting coating powder and the chemical reactivity of the powder, together with a satisfactory final coating forming capacity. The results of the specified procedures are an indication of the ability of the coating powder to withstand the effects of storage prior to application.

The thermosetting coating powder is subjected to artificial storage conditions at a certain temperature for a certain period of time. Next, any change in the free flowing ability of the powder and its tendency to agglomerate or cake according to a particular grading scheme are noted. Any change in the ability of the powder to chemically react and form a satisfactory final coating is then evaluated.
