Material Testing

EN ISO 9073-10 Textiles - Test Methods for Nonwovens - Production of Lint and Other Particles in Dry Condition

This part of EN ISO 9073 specifies a test method for measuring the backing of nonwovens in the dry state. It can also be applied to other textile materials.

Lint released during transportation is fiber fragments. Lint during transport means that lint and other particles are released. Linting coefficient means the particle count log applied to all or some of the measurement channels.

This procedure describes a modified Gelbo Flex method in which the sample is subjected to a combined twisting and compression process in a test chamber. During yawning, air is drawn from the chamber and particles in the air stream are counted and classified in a particle counter. Depending on the meter selection, size ranges can be between 0,3 µm or 0,5 µm and 25 µm.

EN ISO 9073-10 Test Apparatus

Vertical lamina flow hood for use in fresh air station to provide a clean test environment.

Flexing unit (Modified Gelbo Flex) on a mechanism consisting of two circular plates, one fixed and the other movable, 82,8 mm in diameter, but which allows it to move towards and from the fixed plate at a frequency of 60 rpm, also at an angle of 180°. clockwise and counterclockwise rotation, synchronously with back and forth motion.

The plates have 10 equally spaced holes (diameter 8 mm) at a distance of 12,5 mm from the outer edge.

The distance between the plates in the initial position is (188 ± 2) mm, and the stroke of the linear movement is (120 ± 2) mm. Clamping devices are used to fix the tubular test piece to circular plates.

Flexing chamber and air collector in which the flexing unit is enclosed in an antistatic perspex box (300 x 300 x 300) mm. This chamber has removable front and rear panels for cleaning and emptying with filtered, fresh air. The back and sides each have two holes (diameter 25 mm) located 300 mm from the top of the chamber and evenly spaced along 10 mm of each panel.
