EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ISO 2137 standard. This standard specifies several methods for empirical estimation of the consistency of lubricating greases and petrolatum by measuring the penetration of a standardized cone.
Cone penetration of lubricating grease is determined at 5°C by releasing the cone assembly from the penetrometer and allowing the cone to drop for 25 seconds and measuring the degree of penetration. Three determinations will be made and the average will be reported as a result.
Untreated penetrations are determined in test portions transferred with minimal disruption to a container suitable for test purposes.
Worked penetrations are determined immediately after running the test portion for 60 double strokes in a standard grease worker.
Cone penetration of petrolatum is determined by first melting and cooling a test sample under certain conditions and then measuring penetration, as with lubricating grease.
