EN ISO 9917-1 Dentistry, Water-Based Cements, Part 1: Powder-Liquid Acid-Based Cements

EN ISO 9917-1 is applicable to both hand-mixed and encapsulated cements for mechanical mixing. EN ISO 9917-1 sets limits for each of the properties, whether the cement is intended to be used as an adhesive, a base or primer, or a restorative material.

ISO 9917-1 is not for resin-modified water-based cements.

Visually inspect the liquid for unencapsulated cements. The inside of the container should be free of deposits or filaments. There will be no visible signs of gelling.

Visually inspect the powder for unencapsulated cements. It will be free from foreign matter. If the powder is colored, the pigment will be evenly distributed throughout the powder.

The cement will be prepared according to the manufacturer's instructions. Sufficient cement will be mixed to ensure that the preparation of each sample is completed from one mix. A fresh mix will be prepared for each sample.

A sample from a batch should provide sufficient material to complete all prescribed tests and necessary iterations.
