BS 6319-6 Testing of Resin Composition for Use in Construction - Part 6: Method for Determining the Modulus of Elasticity in Compression

This part of BS 6319 describes a method for determining the modulus of elasticity in the compression of resin-based mortar and concrete samples in the form of rectangular prisms.

The principle of the test is that a prism with an aspect ratio is subjected to a controlled axial compressive load and the compressive stress is correlated with the longitudinal strain induced by this stress.

Preparation of test specimens, including conditioning, proportioning and mixing of materials and conditioning and filling of the mold, shall comply with BS 6319-1.

Provided the system is stable throughout the test and means are available to properly center the prism, a spacer block or blocks may be placed between the prism or auxiliary platen and the submachine plate to reduce the test area. No more than two blocks plus one auxiliary plate should be used. Each block of space will be monolithic with a rectangular vertical section and will support the prism or auxiliary plate over its entire area. The material properties, surface flatness, surface texture and parallelism of the contact faces of each block shall comply with the requirements of BS 1881-115.
