This European Standard applies to all basic edge-supported vertical and curved glazing systems in all types of fixed or swing-out frames used in buildings. This European standard also specifies the functions, requirements and installation of glass blocks in a frame throughout their manufacturing, transportation, installation and operational life.

The standard applies to glass blocks used for all types of flat or curved glass, as well as derived types of processed glass. Other or additional requirements, rules or recommendations may apply to certain glass products such as fire rated glass, safety glass. The standard is applicable to European climatic conditions.

This European Standard does not apply to:

  • Glass blocks and paver units;
  • Channel-shaped glass;
  • Structural sealing glass;
  • Glued glass on the window;
  • Point fixed glass;
  • greenhouses.

As this standard gives only basic mounting principles, national requirements, rules or recommendations may also apply. This European Standard deals with the glazing system, i.e. glass, glass blocks, sealants, gaskets and components used to mount the glass in a frame, as well as reduction.
