Advanced composite materials (GKM) have broad, proven applications in the aircraft, aviation and sports equipment industries. More specifically, GKMs are very attractive for aircraft and aviation components. GKMs are even being developed for NASA's Advanced Space Transport Program, armor protection for Army aviation and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, and high-temperature shaft for the Comanche helicopter. In addition, GKMs have decades of history in the military and government aviation industries. However, most of the new technologies are being developed for secondary or commercial markets, and advanced composite production technology is constantly evolving.
