This standard details specific specifications for both circular and flat lifting cables and cables for flexible connections of rated voltages up to (inclusive) 450/750 V. This type of cable for elevators and hoists is designed for installations where the freely suspended length does not exceed 35 m and the travel speed does not exceed 1,6 m/s. The use of cables beyond these limits would be a matter of agreement between the buyer and manufacturer, for example by adding a voltage carrying element.

The live element shall consist of either a non-metallic material or a metal coated with a non-conductive, corrosion-resistant material.

After mounting on the test apparatus, the cable must be stretched for 3 000 000 cycles. The flexing will be continuous except once a week the apparatus is stopped to perform the high voltage test. Monitoring the continuity of each core will be performed continuously throughout the stretch.
