IEC 60669-2-5 Switches for Household and Similar Fixed Electrical Installations - Part 2-5: Switches for Use in Home and Building Electronics

This part of IEC 60669 applies to HBES switches with an operating voltage not exceeding 250 V ac and rated current up to and including 16 A.

Applies to:

• HBES switches for operating lamp circuits and controlling the brightness of lamps (dimmers), as well as for controlling the speed of motors (eg used in ventilation fans) and other purposes (eg heating installations);
• Sensors, actuators, switched sockets, related electronic expansion units, etc.
• The word "HBES switch" in the current standard includes switches, sensors, actuators, switched sockets, switches, sensors, actuators, switched sockets, related electronic expansion units;

HBES switches conforming to this standard are suitable for use at ambient temperatures normally not exceeding 25 °C, but sometimes reach 35 °C.

This part of IEC 60669 also applies to mounting boxes for HBES switches, except for recessed HBES switches within the scope of IEC 60670-1.

The functional security aspects of HBES keys are not covered by this standard. Functional safety requirements are covered by the standards for devices controlled by HBES.

Where special conditions prevail, eg higher temperature, special structures may be required.
