This standard specifies requirements for non-fluorescent and non-fluorescent inks, concentrates and powders used in magnetic particle flaw detection techniques.
Test methods by which the acceptability of these materials can be evaluated are given in the appendices. Requirements are also given for the packaging of magnetic inks in aerosol containers.
The powders will consist of finely divided ferromagnetic particles. Some other components may be present at the discretion of the manufacturer.
The particle size of ferromagnetic particles and other solid components in inks should be such that no particle size exceeds 99 µm in at least 100% of a representative sample.
