IEC 62021-1 Insulating Liquids - Determination of Acidity - Part 1: Automatic Potentiometric Titration

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of IEC 62021-1 standard. Explains the procedure for determining the acidity of unused and used electrical mineral insulating oils.

IEC 62021-1 Insulating Liquids - Determination of Acidity - Part 1: Automatic Potentiometric Titration

The method can be used to indicate relative changes in a mineral insulating oil during use under oxidizing conditions, regardless of the color or other properties of the resulting mineral oil.

Acidity can be used for quality control of unused mineral oil.

The test cannot be used to predict the abrasiveness of a mineral oil under service conditions, as various oxidation products in used mineral oil contribute to acidity and these products vary greatly in their corrosion properties.

Acidity results obtained with this test method may or may not be numerically identical to those obtained by colorimetric methods, but they are generally of the same magnitude.
