IEC 61914 Cable Clamps for Electrical Installations

The IEC 61914 test applies to the cable clamps in the cable tray used to fix the power cables. The standard outlines and configures how to properly test, design and install a cable clamp to protect against a short circuit.

IEC 61914 Cable Clamps for Electrical Installations

Cable locks provide resistance to electromechanical forces where they are declared. This document contains cable clamps based on a manufacturer-specified mounting surface for axial and/or lateral holding of cables.

Choosing a cable lock solution provides the end user with assurance that it has been designed, tested and engineered to meet the specifications of your application, as well as providing insurance that your facility will be protected should you experience a short circuit event.

Cable Clamps certified according to this standard must be designed and manufactured. It should be possible with the classification given by the manufacturer to assure a safe use and secure fastening for wires/cables as appropriate.

It should be ensured that the Cable Clamps are free by the design and manufacture of the Cable Clamps. sharp edges, burrs, etc., to avoid damage to cables and/or conductors and to prevent injury. installation personnel and operators should be used by experts.

All mechanical tests are performed on the three smallest specimens, respectively. The impact test serves to prove the minimum operating conditions specified by the manufacturer. The temperature and impact strength of the clamp are performed after preconditioning for impact tests on non-metallic and composite clamps. For minimum permanent application, it should be kept in a UV room for 700 hours (29 days) at the temperature specified by the Manufacturer.

Documents to be specified by the manufacturer, the classification temperature achieved for each batch in minimum permanent application, should be documented by the manufacturer in their documentation. (with a description of the torques of the fastening screws, if necessary).

The maximum permanent application temperature of the maximum lateral restraint forces (N) for each series will be documented by the manufacturer in their documentation. (with a description of the torques of the mounting screws, if necessary).
