The directive in question is a specific directive on electromagnetic immunity requirements within the meaning of the Directive 2014/30/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council. This directive continues to apply in relation to emissions requirements.

European Union countries are free to use these measuring devices where they consider justified for reasons of public interest, public health, public safety, public order, environmental protection, consumer protection and fair trade. However, where he does not foresee such use, he must explain the reasons for it.

For the purposes of this directive,

  • Meter means any device or system with a measuring function described in the directive.
  • Legal metrological control refers to the control of measurement tasks for the application area of ​​a measuring device for reasons of public interest, public health, public safety, public order, protection of the environment and protecting consumers and fair trade.
  • Manufacturer means the natural or legal person who manufactures a measuring instrument or designs and has it manufactured and markets it under its own name or trademark or puts it into use for its own purposes.
  • Technical specification refers to a document that specifies the technical requirements that must be fulfilled by a measuring instrument.
  • Harmonized standard refers to the harmonized standard defined in regulation (EU) 1025/2012.
