ISO 105-E02 Textiles, Color Fastness Tests, Part E02: Color Fastness to Sea Water

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ISO 105-E02 standard. ISO 105-E02 specifies a method for determining the color resistance of textiles of all types and forms to immersion in seawater.

ISO 105-E02 Textiles, Color Fastness Tests, Part E02: Color Fastness to Sea Water

A textile sample in contact with two monofilament adjacent fabrics or a multifibre adjacent fabric is immersed in sodium chloride solution, filtered and placed between two plates under a certain pressure in a test device. The sample and adjacent fabrics are dried separately. The change in sample color and staining of adjacent fabrics are assessed by comparison with gray scales or instrumentally.

The tester consists of a stainless steel frame in which a weight piece with a mass of about 5 kg and a base of 60 mm x 115 mm are firmly attached, so that a pressure of (12,5 ± 0,9) kPa can be obtained.

It can be applied to test specimens measuring (60 ± 115) mm x (1,5 ± 40) mm, placed between glass or acrylic resin plates measuring approximately 2 mm x 100 mm x 2 mm. The tester should be constructed in such a way that the pressure remains unchanged if the piece of weight is removed during the test.
