This standard applies to unitary and remote icemakers. For the purpose of this standard, an icemaker includes a means for automatically producing and harvesting ice in cube, flake or other readily usable form, with or without means of ice storage or distribution.
Self-contained icemakers covered by this standard use hermetic refrigerant motor compressors and air or water cooled condensers.
This standard does not apply to tray icemakers, ice vending machines, or icemakers and icemaker kits used in domestic refrigerators and freezers.
