This standard can be helpful for composite and laminated materials. Only the effect of the gas is considered in changing the material and mechanical properties (eg chemical reaction or change in physical state). The basic mechanical properties of materials required for design purposes are normally available from the material supplier and are not considered in this standard.
Compatibility data given relate to single component gases but can be used to some extent for gas mixtures. Ceramics, glass and adhesives are not within the scope of this standard. Issues such as the quality of the delivered gas are not taken into account.
