ISO 11114-3 specifies a test method for determining the autogenous ignition temperature of non-metallic materials in compressed gaseous oxygen.

Autogenous ignition temperature is a criterion for ranking materials and can be used to assist in the selection of materials used in the presence of gaseous oxygen.

ISO 11114-3 is intended to be used in the selection of non-metallic materials for gas cylinders and accessories, for example to meet the type test requirement for oxygen compatibility of all cylinder valves.

A small amount of test material is heated in pressurized oxygen. Continuous recording of pressure and temperature is made to determine the autogenous ignition point at which a sudden increase in temperature and pressure is observed.

Test samples will be prepared in a way that prevents contamination. Test samples may be in liquid or solid form. In the case of solids, the material will be finely divided. A sample mass of between 0,06 g and 0,5 g is used for each test.
