This document applies to seamless steel gas cylinders only. The requirements of this document do not apply if at least one of the following conditions is met for the intended gas service.

The working pressure of the filled embrittlement gas is less than 20% of the test pressure of the cylinder. The partial pressure of the filled embrittlement gas of a gas mixture is less than 5 MPa (50 bar) in the case of hydrogen and other embrittlement gases except hydrogen sulfide and methyl mercaptan. In such cases, the partial pressure should not exceed 0,25 MPa (2,5 bar).

In such cases, it is possible to design the cylinder for ordinary (non-fragile) gases.
