EN 1382 Wooden Structures - Test Methods - Tensile Capacity Test of Wooden Fasteners

This European Standard specifies the test method for determining the tensile capacity of fasteners installed in timber (solid wood, LVL, CLT and glued laminated timber).

The properties of LVL, CLT and glued laminated wood will be determined. The products used for the individual test pieces shall represent the product class or range to which they belong and the relevant properties shall be declared.

Test pieces for smooth fasteners should be produced with wood or wood-based products at an equilibrium moisture content corresponding to (20 ± 2)°C and (85 ± 5) % relative humidity.

After manufacture, test pieces should be stored at (20 ± 2)°C and (65 ± 5) % relative humidity for at least one week. For all other fasteners, test pieces should be produced with wood or wood-based products at an equilibrium moisture content corresponding to (20 ± 2)°C and (65 ± 5%) relative humidity.

The moisture content and density of the wood tested shall be determined as specified in ISO 13061-1 and ISO 13061-2 as appropriate. The material is conditioned when it reaches constant mass. Constant mass is considered to have been reached when the results of two consecutive weighings performed at 6-hour intervals do not differ by more than 0,1% of the mass of the material.
