A leather sample is immersed in demineralized water and a piece of adjacent fabric is again submerged in demineralized water and laid against both sides to be tested. The composite sample is left under pressure for a certain time in a suitable apparatus. The leather sample and adjacent fabric are then dried and the change in color of the sample and staining of the adjacent fabric are evaluated with gray scales.
Polished leathers can be tested with either intact or broken polish. General color fastness testing principles will conform to those described in ISO 105-A01, taking into account that the substrate is leather.
