ISO 12625-5 specifies a test method for determining the wet tensile strength of tissue paper and tissue products after soaking with water using a tensile strength tester operating at a constant rate of extension.
Two types of tensile strength testers are currently commercially available, one in which the test piece is placed vertically and the other horizontally.
This standard applies to both. For the vertical tensile strength tester, a device called a Finch Cup is used to obtain wetting, which is held in the lower handle of the tensile strength tester. For the horizontal tensile strength tester, the wetting device is placed between the clamps.
Where impurities and contrasts need to be determined, ISO 15755[6] applies to tissue paper and paper products for these determinations.
