ISO 1407 Standard Test for Determination of Rubber, Solvent Extract

ISO 1407 specifies four methods for the quantitative determination of extractable material from both natural and synthetic raw rubbers; Two of the methods are also applicable to unvulcanized and vulcanized compounds of raw rubbers.

Method A measures the mass of the solvent extract relative to the mass of the original test portion after evaporation of the solvent.

Method B measures the difference in mass of the test portion before and after extraction.

Method C for raw rubbers only measures the difference in mass of the test portion before and after extraction using boiling solvent.

Method D, for raw rubbers only, measures the difference in mass of the test piece before and after extraction relative to the mass of the original test piece.
