The test sample is immersed in a lubricant. It is repeatedly removed from the lubricant, cleaned, dried and weighed until a constant liquid absorption is achieved. The test specimen is then tested for mass loss in a knee joint simulator and then evaluated for wear. A control sample, loaded or unloaded, articulated, immersed in the same lubricant medium is designed to allow fluid absorption and is subjected to the same procedure for reference purposes.
