DIN 16874 High Density Polyethylene (PE-HD) Pipes for Underground Telecommunications - Dimensions and Technical Delivery Conditions

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of DIN 16874 standard. This standard applies to pipes made of polyethylene (PE-HD) meeting the specific requirements of the underground telecommunications industry.

Tubes are produced as extruded or multilayer solid wall tubes in coils, rods or flat end drums. The length tolerance should not exceed ±1% of the total length. Tolerances are measured at (23 ± 2) °C.

Special requirements apply depending on the application. Reference is made to the general safety specifications of DIN EN 61386-24 (VDE 0605-24) for electrical installations in underground piping systems.

Specimens with closures of type a) or type b) according to DIN EN ISO 1167 at both ends shall be filled with water and placed vertically in a water bath heated to test temperature. The test voltage should be applied after the samples have been kept in the water bath for 1 hour to allow the temperature to adjust.

Pipes shall be marked with an imprint or embossment or sticker that will be legible for at least 2 years after storage, exposure and use, and installation.
